Welcome from the Chairman
Welcome to the 2025 Riding of the Bounds – our 416th year!
What a year 2024 turned out to be. Our Principal girls represented Berwick with professionalism and pride, carrying the town’s colours throughout the Borders. Chief Marshal Caitlin took everything in her stride – even the unpredictable British weather – and delivered a truly memorable year.
Millie has already shown tremendous commitment in learning the ropes, and we’re certain she’ll bring her own strength and spirit to the role this summer. We also welcome Laura into her new role, and wish all three girls the very best of luck. We know they’ll do Berwick proud.
Let’s not forget our 2024 Mascot, Hollie, whose enthusiasm and presence lit up the year. We’re sure we’ll be seeing her take on even bigger roles in future years.
Behind the scenes, Riding of the Bounds is brought to life by a small but dedicated committee – people I am endlessly grateful to. Their commitment, throughout the year and in all weather, ensures this tradition remains strong. From school visits and fundraising to route checks and social events – their work is tireless, and I thank each and every one of them.
Thanks also go to our sponsors, supporters, landowners, Freeman Trustees, the Civic Party, and the many volunteers who help make this special day happen. Whether you’re on horseback, on foot, or simply cheering from the roadside – your support means everything.
Here’s to another safe and successful day. May the sun shine for us, and may we all enjoy not just the ride, but the sense of togetherness it brings. Thank you for helping us keep this tradition alive.
Safe oot, safe in!
