Behind the Scenes: Riding of the Bounds 2025
Behind the Camera: Why This Website Exists
Hello, I'm Sarah Jamieson of Pictorial Photography, the local storyteller behind the lens, specialising in branding and website photography. For too long, the Riding of the Bounds had no proper digital home - bits and pieces existed, but there wasn’t one place where the whole story lived, looked bright, and felt like the tradition itself. That’s why this new website means so much to me.
Generous support from Create Berwick, along with help from Courtney and Laura, made it all possible, from building the site to planning every shot (photo and video). Without Create Berwick’s backing, none of this would have come together as it has.
A Juggling Act, and What It Taught Me
Filming and photographing the ride at the same time was a proper juggling act. There I was, two cameras in hand, darting between roads and fields, squeezing gear into wardens’ vehicles, all against the clock. I had to keep my eyes peeled, not just for the perfect shot, but also for excited horse hooves and lumpy ground (complete with natural… field deposits). It wasn’t glamorous, but it was alive with energy and absolutely worth every chaotic moment.
With Janet’s Help, and a Story Worth Telling
Then there was Janet, a committee member I’d never met before the day who quietly became my greatest ally. She kindly drove me to every viewpoint that mattered all while completing her own marshaling duties, and that allowed me to see the ride in full - not just the part I’ve watched every year along the High Street.
I witnessed the care of vets, first-aiders, and marshals, the quiet pride of riders returning the flag, and the buzz of community in every corner. Thanks to this site, that story is now ready for you to explore.
